Equine bodywork encompasses many modalities of hands-on therapy, such as massage and acupressure. A good specialist customizes treatment to the horse’s specific needs. Joan Differding is trained in several different methods of equine bodywork, and she synthesizes the various techniques in order to best help each individual horse. Joan strives to release areas of tension, correct asymmetries and restore healthy posture and free movement in the horse. Her approach is gentle and respectful of the horse and invites the horse to be a full participant in the therapy. Joan takes photo and video records during each session and provides a written report with her findings and suggestions of exercises for the owner to do with their horse to further its healing. Sessions are typically 90 – 120 minutes in duration.
